BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that it believes eating meat or dairy products from cloned animals is safe, but that it will not make a final decision on whether to allow such products on the market until it receives comments on the matter from the public........By Val Brickates Kennedy & William Spain
Yes, I'd like think so too...But unfortunately, I do believe it will do us more harm than good. Imagine being trapped in a snow storm with no food....
Me: Please, please do not eat me!! But if you must, please clone me before you do.....
At least...there's one more Jean walking around somewhere.....
**Scary thoughts**
Or...
Me: Yes, I have been around for 1000 years. This is the 6th me, and I NEVER aged!!
**Again...scary idea**

Heh, I'm really iffy about eating GMOs and cloned stuff... I mean, sixty years ago, we were all giddy over nuclear energy as the "cleanest energy" and even put plutonium into our glassware to make it glow in the dark. "It couldn't possibly hurt us!"
Same thing with DDT: "Wow, perfect mosquito-killer with no drawbacks! Hurrah!" Same thing with pthalates: "It makes kids' toys so nice and soft! And gives them birth defects!"
It really seems like the human race never, ever learns a goddamn thing from the past. Honestly, it's so simple: TEST STUFF, WATCH FOR LONG-TERM EFFECTS. But no, it's all about instant gratification. We want to eat giant overgrown corn with a substituted jellyfish gene in it RIGHT NOW.
Anyone who shows any caution or restraint in embracing these new technologies and techniques are immediately labelled as "old-fashioned," "unable to get with the times," and basically, "party pooper." (The irony of this sentence making me, Ms. Libby Liberal, sound like such a conservative is not lost on yours truly.)
Yes, it's a huge advance in biology. But so was the advent of nuclear technology. We're making huge decisions without even having seen ANY evidence. It's hubris to assume that we're now so intelligent and forward-thinking that this won't come back and bite us in the ass. Which, I guarantee, it will, physically or morally. GMOs and cloning is constantly being touted as being flawless and having no drawbacks whatsoever. There is no such thing as a perfect solution. N'est-ce pas?
