I took the 'What's your perfect job' quiz, and I scored...
Your perfect job is an Archaeologist!
Archaeologists excavate, preserve, study, and classify artifacts of the near and distant past in order to develop a picture of how people lived in earlier cultures and societies. The profession combines a broad understanding of history with sophisticated digging procedures and plain old hard work, making it one of the most demanding and competitive branches of the social sciences. An archaeologists natural curiosity about the past and the secrets it holds make the profession a fascinating one.
-
Damn IT, Dad!!
See? I told you I wanted to study archaeology.
But, you said...'honey, this job doesn't really make money'
And I went to study a subject with $$ on it.
You've ruined me!!
Haha. *j/k*
But, I think I would love the job of an Archaeologist.

Oscar Night!
Martin Scorsese took home a very well-deserved little golden man for The Departed!! I thought that was expected as I was watching the ceremony. I mean, come on America, this guy's given so much and of course he should get one eventually, right?
A huge mistake during the announcement for The Departed screen writer's award though.
HELLO, Academy! The film is an adaptation of a Hong Kong film of Infernal Affairs.
NOT a Japanese film!!
You'd think since the Infernal Affairs have won so many awards in Asia, and the fact that Scorsese & Brad Pitt's Plan B Company thought it was good enough to re-do it in English; that the Oscars Academy would KNOW where it was originally from!!!
Geez....
NOT ALL FILMS ARE FROM JAPAN!!
-Aside from all the excitement on Scorsese's win, I was rooting for DiCaprio on Blood Diamond. I thought DiCaprio did a very good job in the film.
-
One last point on the OSCARS.
I love the idea that the OSCARS are going GREEN!
It's about time!!

Words can't describe how much I 'hate' ass-kissers! *said in an Asian way*
Words can't describe my frustration on certain projects!
Words can't describe on the stubbornness of people I have to witness everyday at work!
Words can't describe my disappointment in people's lack of respect for co-workers!
Words can't describe my utmost frustration in wanting to scream out loud the unjust favoritism occurring in front of me!
Frustration
Disappointment
Disgust
I am just extremely disappointed!

Taken from Carl Choi's thoughts (Xanga Site).... Only some key points were taken.
On Growing up in America -
1. Many Asian-American youth feel excluded and misunderstood by most brands. It's made worse by the fact that they see advertisers actively wooing the African-American and Hispanic markets.
3. Asian-American youth are secret fans of "easy listening" adult contemporary music. Lite FM is a hidden passion.
4. There's a "hero gap" among Asian-American kids, which is being filled for many by activists from other cultures. Martin Luther King is a role model and hero to many young Asian-Americans.
5. Most Asian-American kids refer to white people as "white people" the same way African-Americans do.
7. Asian-American kids want an end to the hyper-nerdy images of themselves on TV and want to see more punked-out skater and graffiti DJ images which reflect a different energy. The feeling is: Enough with the math geeks, future doctors and violinists. Asian-American kids crave street credibility -- not just academic accolades.
8. Asian-American kids universally hate the question: Where are you from-- especially since the answers are usually something like "Westchester" or "Boston."
9. All things Korean are hot and getting hotter. Fashion. Foods. DJs. Online communities. Korea is the new Japan.
10. The 15 minutes of seemingly benign American Idol fame for William Hung had a surprisingly negative effect on Asian-American students. There's a feeling that Hung perpetuated the worst stereotypes about Asian people and gave non-Asians permission to indulge in two years of racial stereotyping and mocking.
-
Personally, I feel very strongly on #10. He really did subject the rest of Asian-Americans/Asian-Canadians a couple years of major stereotyping and mocking! The stereotyping even extended from Asians living in Asia to us.

Iraq tank command for Prince Harry
LONDON, England (CNN) -- Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, is to join troops serving in Iraq, defense officials confirmed Thursday.
Ending weeks of speculation on the young royal's future, the Ministry of Defense said Harry, 22, will be deployed with his Blues and Royals regiment in May or June this year.
The prince will become the first royal to serve in a war zone since his uncle, the Duke of York, piloted helicopters in the Falklands conflict 25 years ago.
Officials said Harry, who graduated as an officer last year, will serve as a troop commander in charge of several light tank reconnaissance vehicles.
British officials have indicated that Harry, 22, could be kept out of situations that could jeopardize his colleagues amid fears he would be a prize target -- or "bullet magnet" -- for insurgents.
But Harry, who graduated last year from Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, has insisted he does not want special treatment. See Full Story

Countdown to the actual moving date: 100 days.
Getting a little anxious about the whole thing.
What should I bring?
What shouldn't I bring?
Will 2 suitcases be enough?
NEVER! I am a woman,
AND a complusive shopaholic.
Maybe 3 suitcases.
Maybe I should get an upgrade to Business Class.
What will happen once I get there?
Probably be bored out of my ass!
Get a job?
Nah...
Look for a house? Mandarin services?
Time is running out on learning Cantonese.
Look for a house, but not for a job?
Sounds good to me!
Maybe not so good to N.
-
Geez...I am late for my dental appointment!
Be back soon....

Complusive Shopaholic never fails on a mission!
Taiwanese-American-Canadian-Cantonese
I know I have been late in this discussion...but, seriously, when was I ever on-time for any trend, right? *laugh*
So, it all began when I watched 'Tokyo Drift'.... (I may have talked to a countless number of people about this already)
Got me started on the whole Asian-American identity crisis.
Um, *dry cough* I am Taiwanese-American-Canadian-soon-to-be-Cantonese, and I think I may have gotten myself into a very very BIG identity crisis here.
Who am I? Taiwanese? T-American? T-Canadian? T-A-C-Cantonese?
NONE OF THE ABOVE?
Oh, and did I ever tell you guys that I have been mistakenly known as a Korean a few times?
By Koreans.
In Vancouver.
-
Sorry~ was a little side-tracked...*laugh*
-
Anyhow, I believe Tokyo Drift is probably one of the very few movies that I have seen without the whole Kung-Fu fighting / Submissive women / Prostitution / FOB / Gangster roles....(I think that's enough description there.)
This movie made Asians "HOT" !!
Hollywood really should start re-thinking on this whole employing Asians in their LIMITED role gig.
-
And on the identity crisis thing...
We should be proud of being an Asian.
The rest are just BS!!

Rules for Single Women (courtesy to Forbes forum & MK)
If you think all men are pigs, expect to live alone when you get older.
If you have 100 reasons to reject a man, expect to live alone when you get older.
Prince Charming is gay.
Rich, attractive, nice - you can only have two in a man.
If you ask a man on a first date how much he earns or what kind of car he drives, he gets to look at your bare breasts while you are still in the restaurant.
If you answer your cell phone during a first date, he has the right to immediately get up and leave with no explanation.
Choosey and "stuck up" are closely related.
At 40, single "Rules Girls" become single, lonely women.
If you expect a man to pay for everything, you'll need a strong jaw and a good tongue.
Perfect men don't exist. Good men are everywhere.
It's OK not to want kids. It's not OK to sacrifice your personal life and goals for your career.
The kharmic retribution for putting good men into the "Friend Zone" while getting hurt by bad boys is to become bitter, angry, and the owner of at least three cats.
You are not a princess no matter what your T-Shirt states. If you really think you are a princess, then you'd better have the body of a stripper, the face of an angel, and the personality of a saint. Even so, only Prince Charming can marry a princess and Prince Charming is gay.
Your single girlfriends don't want you to have a happy relationship with a man. Consider this when listening to their advice.
A man won't say "I love you" until he is 100% confident that you won't use this against him. This might take years, be patient because men can be sensitive, too.
Taking the time to look your best is not optional. After all, if you can catch his eye then you can catch his heart. Being agreeable, pleasant, and happy will seal the deal.
Smiles and laughter are contagious and can melt any man's heart.
The unintended consequence of independence is loneliness.
There is a fine line between expecting that a man pay for everything and being a common prostitute.
Excessive complaining is neither attractive nor polite.
You are entitled to nothing. However, you can expect rewards for working hard for something.
Before you say "it's all his fault" after a bad date, look closely in the mirror.
It's not always men making you unhappy. Don't let bitter women convince you of that.
Being strong doesn't mean being bitchy. Southern women have known this for generations.
You can't have it all. Please have the good sense to realize this.
Compromise is not surrender, it's what is necessary to have a good relationship.
Don't expect men to fall all over you just because you are a woman. Feminism taught men to be independent, too.
There's nothing wrong with looking feminine.
If he doesn't call you back, it means he's just not really into you. Deal with it.
If you meet a man, don't find reasons to reject him or things to change in him. Find reasons to accept him and respect him.
"As if" and "whatever" are immature insults used by 12 year olds, not intelligent young women.
The common word in "drink whore" and "dinner whore" is still whore.
Sorry girl, it's NOT all about you so you can change your T-Shirt now.
Many men would rather chase women, not girls.
Given the current state of divorce laws, don't expect any man to marry you. It's not you, it's just how things are right now.
Hanging around gay men won't give you any useful insights about straight men. Frankly, hanging around gay men is just creepy.
"No fat chicks" is the man's version of "If you're rich, I'm single".
Winning a man is easy, keeping a man requires hard work.
Advertising "Bitch" on your T-Shirt or sweatpants won't get you any dates. Single men don't care for that attitude.
Deferring self-gratification is a sign of maturity. You can wait until dinner even if you're hungry now.
The real world is pushy, rude, and often unpleasant. That doesn't mean you have to be the same way.
If you dress like a tart, expect to be treated like a tart.

Here are some quotes I found on my friends' Myspace. They are quite lovely...
Love is not about finding the right person,
but creating a right relationship.
It's not about how much love you have in the beginning,
but how much love you build till the end.
The worst walls are never the ones you find in your way.
The worst walls are the ones you put there- you build yourself.
Those are the high ones, the thick ones, the ones with no doors in.
-Ursula K LeGuin.

R U KIDDING ME?

Not convinced to read this book yet? Here are some of the book reviews~
Convinced yet?

With my luck 2006年衰到不行...This better be right~
For N, this is yours~

Big Buddha

Posting up a series of photos from HK's Big Buddha trip. A new gondola system have been opened last year for the easy access to the Big Buddha. This is good, b/c no more crazy bus drivers and near death trips up the mountain!
Also, they've opened up a tourist attraction featuring 2 theaters for children and many shops and restaurants, making trips to the Big Buddha more joyous.
P.S. I'd like to apologize for the excess amount of N pictures. **I was trying to take pictures of the scenery** But, N had to get his lovely face on camera as much as possible! (A very typical Libra trait) ;)
