I GOT A STRIPPER

Ok!! I thought my farewell party was over by 1:30pm. But, little did I know, I was in for the biggest shock of my entire life.

By 4:30pm, my boss called me in his room and said, well, let's talk. I was going over cases that needed follow up. All of a sudden, Jil came upstairs and told me that there's an inspector downstairs. (Well, for those of you that have a dirty mind, you know what this is)

I got downstairs, and the inspector insisted on having me to show him the conference room b/c there was something wrong with it. Well, as soon as him and I got into the room. Loud music started blaring off the wall, and he started dancing....

What happened next was the most strange hour of my life.

I GOT A STRIPPER AS A FAREWELL PRESENT!!!

Good Lord, that never crossed my mind....nor would I ever think of having a lap dance.

Haha...

Stay tuned for pictures....

LAST DAY!!!

Officially the last day of work.
Office threw a farewell lunch party for me...w/ costume made powerpoint full of the 5 1/2 year memories of my time spent here. Crazy right? I was so touched by the fact that my fellow co-workers have put in so much time constructing it. At the end of the clip.... I was speechless. Literally, speechless.
When it came time for me to say something...I felt 10 + pairs of eyes staring at me....All I could do was....say, umm.... I am very touched....
Ok, that was lame!! But I have fear of public speaking, and especially, if I am the ONLY speaker in the room.
Overall, I felt blessed and quite happy that I am leaving. I love our co-workers, but it's the clients that I am eager to get away from.
That sounds bad, right? But, I really think all these years of customer service really did a number on me. I fear it completely now. It will be a long while before I head into that realm again.
-
Starting May 1st. It will be sleep until noon, watch Oprah every weekday, and just veg out time for Princess Sophie.

But, before I go....

Here's my schedule for the 1st 2 weeks of May, since Mr. Bear has arrived. Which = less blogging time for me. =)

May 1st, Victoria
May 2nd ~ 3rd, Whistler
May 6th ~ 11th, Mexico

Then I will be BACK!!

See Ya!!

1 Day Left

Now that I am about to end my employment, I start to wonder what I should do with my spare time.

I have considered taking up some classes to kill time, and to perhaps increase my knowledge. *laugh*

Well, I am thinking of brushing up on my German and Japanese language skills. However, my sister insisted upon improving my Cantonese. Too bad that w/ Cantonese, I just simply lack the motivation to learn. (which is not too good at the present state)

I have taken German for 2 years in high school, and Japanese for 3 years in college. But, to eveyone's amazement, I still can't really make out a complete & logical sentence. ><

So, I shall take time to improve them on my blog...

-
Meine Name ist Jean
Ich bin sehr glücklich zur Ende Beschäftigung
Ich mag Tee und Kaffee
Ich bin faul, und Ich genieße zu schlafen
-
私の名前はJeanである (or what my teacher used to call me 'Kan San' de su)
私は眠ることを楽しむ
-

Ok, I am getting bored at trying to think of things that I know....

Basically, that's about it~

And in Simple Cantonese, I can invite to you Dim Sum.

Yeah, I am beginning to understand the cruelty behind language barriers.

In Total Disbelief...and Totally MAD...

I encountered a very rude client today. Even though, it was communicated to her that we no longer hold a particular company contract, and thus, the files are transferred back to the parent company.
She did not understand the concept, and when she couldn't fight her way through to get what she wanted with the parent company. She called us, well me, to complain.
At first, I sat there and tried to logically tell her that anything regarding to this particular file will be dealt ONLY between client and the parent company. And that the parent company will not release her information to us.
You know what her reply was?
"Well, I am going to go to the newspaper and report you guys. And by the way, are you sure you did not profit personally from my contract?"
After hearing this, that was icing on the cake, adding fuel to the fire....
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I explained to her that there's no potential reason or method for me to profit personally from your contract or misfortune, nor will going to the newspaper do anything good for you and the parent company.
She then went on indicating that the parent company are not helping her the way she wanted them to. I have no choice but to continue to advise her to contact the parent company...
In this event, what will you guys do? Are all customer service rep. to blame for the termination of company contracts? or as a matter of fact, to be blamed for agents selling products and ran away?
To me, I was shocked at some of the things Asian clients will say to get their way. >"<

a person's kindness could raise hopes

The media has gone overboard by continuing broadcasting the VT event. Instead of making it into a media frenzy, we should allow the families to grief in private; and not poke fun of this horrible situation with Cho speculations.

I remember watching CSI Las Vegas one night, the eposide was about a man suffering through medical problems on a plane, and was showing some mad man behavior which led to the entire plane to kill him. (Well, you can look up the story). Despite the situation @ VT was reversed.

The point of the eposide was, it took the whole plane to kill that man, but it would only take 1 person to save the man, and the horrible situation that had happened.

@ VT's case. It took years of bullying to cause a man mad. But it would only take one person to show kindness, and change the potential mad man's mental state. Thus, this tragedy would have been prevented.

At the end of the day, one person's kindness could raise hopes in a desperate man.

Let's pray for VT, and pray for a more just world

The following article brought back the memories of the student documentary that a friend of mine had done on Asian Canadian Women in Canada. I recentl saw the tape, and I find that most of what was said in the tape showed discrimination as a pressing issue in modern society.

I remember the only time that I was made fun of was the 1st year I went to New Jersey. I was in 7th grade, and spoke little English. I remember I was sitting in History class, and a girl turned to me and asked me. "Where do you get your clothes? From Kmart?" Then her and her friends started laughing.
My ability to understand English was not at full capacity back then, therefore, I just sat there with a blank face. However, another classmate was nice enough to stand up for me. He had told the girl to stop being mean, and quit the act. To this day, I am forever thankful for the gesture.
But that was back in the day, and I wouldn't know what it would be like to be high school post 1996. From what I know, peer pressure can be dangerous, and it should be guarded and supervised closely. Schools should keep a watchful eye on racial remarks, & discriminatory comments. After all, we are all living in a very diversed environment. No one wants to be intentionally categorized in a specific way, everyone is indeed different from one another, despite their color or ethncitiy. See full story

Yahoo should be ashamed

Yahoo is being sued by Human Rights Org. for turning over information that involved political views posted on the Internet by Chinese citizens, as a result, these citizens were detained and tortured. see full story

I have been wanting to express my rage towards Yahoo for a long while now. It stems from my need to search for information on its website, and all the results I come across are from China, and in simplified Chinese. I don't object to the fact that China release information, or they use simplified Chinese; However, I do object to the fact that Yahoo ONLY posts results that are under these 2 requirements.

Taiwan, Hong Kong website, posting in traditional Chinese are all eliminated in favor of China. Are we really into the 生意人 無國界's saying? OR I should say, 生意人 無國界 無道德倫理觀念 就只會賺錢.

Yahoo founder - Jerry Yang should be ashamed of himself...

WWPHS 11 year reunion

Last week, I was notified by my high school 11 year reunion committee on making a reservation for September 1st. I thought it was quite interesting that after 10 years, we are still trying to get everyone together. Although it has become virtually impossible to track down the graduated class of 1996. I do have to say, at least someone is doing it!
Personally, for me, I wouldn't go to any of the reunions....not the 5 yr reunion, the 11 yr reunion, not ever... But, I do have to praised the good works that Chris and the rest of team has put in so far...
Here's the details on the get together..
-
The place is kind of errr... strange.... just read the dress code and you will know what I mean.
All, I have to say, what are you suppose to wear to the reunion?

Pray for the victims @ VT, and let it be viewed not as a 'colored' crime, but as a 'colorless' crime. We grief for this tragedy the same way the world grieves.

Reese Witherspoon & Jake Gyllenhaal Get Close

Five months after announcing her split from husband Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon seems to be wading back into the dating pool – with Jake Gyllenhaal, her costar in the upcoming CIA thriller Rendition.Although the two have been careful to avoid the spotlight, they were spotted March 23 dining with two other couples at L.A.'s Il Sole. "They were cuddling," an observer tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "It looked very playful." And now friends of both say the relationship extends beyond the occasional dinner. "In the last month, they've been spending a lot more time together," says a source close to Gyllenhaal, adding that the actor has even met up with Witherspoon, 31, and her kids – daughter Ava, 7, and son Deacon, 3 – in New York City. At 26, he is five years her junior, but "Jake really likes her and isn't at all concerned that she has two kids." See Full Story

My trip to the Tower of London

Showtime premiered a new series called 'The Tudors' this past weekend, and to my dismay, I COULDN'T WATCH IT!! They are showing it in the US only...DAMN!!

However, this has brought me down memory lane again. My 2004 summer break in London.

My visit to the Tower of London.

The place was awesome, except when it's really high up on the towers, the entrance are all blocked off or gated. Also, another strange thing is, the higher you go, the narrower the staircase become. I was surprised at this, b/c I had thought all the guys back then were chubby and probably wear layers of clothing....I wondered how they can get to the top of the tower.

Well, with my evil thoughts on the narrow staircase + chubby men. What happened next was a real shock to me!

As I was walking through the main hall, Henry VIII in full armor caught my attention. My first thought was...DAMN, this man is short and chubby, gosh, how did he attract all his wives?

My friend was pulling my hand urging me to go to the next room, and as soon as I had finished that thought, I spun around to leave.

I went straight into a pole!

The loud bang shocked all the tourists around me, and my glasses came splitting in half....

My friend couldn't stop laughing at me, and I had to pick up my glasses and run as fast as I can out the exit door.

My lesson?

Never, ever, make fun of the proud king - Henry VIII, whom despite his image, could rule a kingdom, and have 6 wives.

Yes, and I do believe he caused my whole embarrassing ordeal.

Nothing will be more memorable than cracking my head open @ the Tower of London
