Pray for the victims @ VT, and let it be viewed not as a 'colored' crime, but as a 'colorless' crime. We grief for this tragedy the same way the world grieves.
You know what, few years ago when I was walking down the street, a guy intentionally spat on my face and my head when we passed by each other. Perhaps he is a psycho, I dunno. It is NYC after all. But I felt it was extrememly insulting. People juz hate someone coz of their race or simply coz they are rich. Now they got a "reason" to expand their hate on Korean or even Asian.
People who are civilized enough will never categorize others in race anyway. But you can never change the mind of the barbarians! *sigh*
Funny that I was just discussing this with a fd on this topic.
I felt very blessed to have grown up in a town and in a high school where it was so diversed that everyone was not judged by color.
I also believe that there are people out there that are just not as accepting on others' differences than the general public.
I believe, these type of labeling, and discrimination stems from the lack of education. Not necessarily from school, but from parents.
As we've become more globally connected, instead of closing the child's perspectives even more; parents should take on the responsibility of expanding their knowledge.
